Help for Christiane Knight

Christiane Knight is the owner of Three Ravens Studio. She creates beautiful handspun yarn and also teaches others to spin. She is even the artist in residence for Fiberygoodness, which is a great honor within the world of fiber arts.

A little over a month ago, she had to go to the emergency room for what turned out to be a perforated bowel--a condition which can easily be fatal.  She had emergency surgery followed by a prolonged hospital stay.

While she seems to be out of immediate danger, her doctors are still trying to figure out why this happened in the first place and what the source of an ongoing infection is, and her recovery is proving to be very hard and slow. She said she can't manage to eat even 1000 calories a day, and she really needs to be able to do that in order to regain her strength.

She is not currently able to run her business, which is her only support, and she is expecting the medical bills to start rolling in in a big way any day now.

She has had to cancel all of her fiber festivals and trunk shows for the rest of the year, and she's facing a whole lot of unknown. Right now, she is finally home from the hospital and able to get around her house a little bit, but she doesn't have the stamina to walk down to her basement where her studio is, much less do the rather physically intense work of a fiber artist.

I met Christiane when I was looking for help running a spinning competition, and not only did she agree to help, but she was always quick to take on whatever was needed as well as to help, encourage, and advise with constant wisdom and kindness.

I'm asking for help to get her through this terribly difficult time so she can get back to her work and vocation as a fiber artist and teacher.

FYI, Christiane's public name has been different from her legal name for 25 years out of necessity. Her legal name is Christina White, but she's the same fabulous spinner you all know.
