Help for Bella's Vet Bills

Donation protected

We lost our best friend, Bella, this week.  (also known by her nicknames:  Bella-Boo, Little Belle, Be-Boo, Miss Bell, Miss-A-Belly-Boo, and others).

After a short 5-day very unexpected illness, she left this world on Monday, January 22, in the morning.

Tuesday night, January 16, she had been laying in bed next to me for over an hour and all of a sudden her nose started to bleed and would not stop.  We tried for 45 minutes to get the bleeding to stop and then headed for the Emergency Vet Clinic.  They got the bleeding to stop but from the bloodwork found out Bella's platelet count was very low and she needed further care.  We headed  to the Blue Pearl Veterinary Partners in Spring, a very specialized animal hospital, where Bella had ACL surgery years ago.  They did a blood transfusion for the low platelets, discovered she had pancreatitis, and she was treated with several medications and stayed at the clinic.  They have 24 hour care and it is truly like a hospital.  We all really thought things would turn around and be OK for Bella.  We spent hours at the clinic visiting Bella and talking  to the vets that worked with her.  Things seemed like they were stabilizing and even getting better.  We brought Bella's "sissy" to see her at the clinic on Saturday evening and Bella wagged her tail when she saw her buddy.  Then on Sunday night her platelets fell again and she got a 2nd transfusion.  Seven hours after her 2nd transfusion she took her last breath.  We were on our way there but did not get to be with her when she left this earth.  Our hearts and souls have been ripped into pieces, and life doesn't make sense anymore.

She will NEVER leave our hearts, and has left us devastated to try to make sense of what happened and why she is gone.

Her physical absence is almost too much to bear.  She was larger than life and knew how much she was loved.  She always put herself to bed early so she got the first spot on the king-sized bed!

Bella started out her journey being found in a dumpster in Spring, Texas.  She was brought to us by my daughter who helped rescue her, and she was full of bug bites, scarcopic mange, and was probably about 7 weeks old at the time.  She was a Black Mouth Cur, a beautiful honey-brown color with gorgeous brown eyes.  She grew into the most beautiful girl, and absolutely LOVED people.  She would literally put her nose under your hand and push your hand up if you stopped petting her so you would pet her more!  She was a fierce hunter, and loved chasing squirrels, rabbits, deer, and raccoons whenever she could.  She went through a lot in her life including ACL surgery a few years ago and she was such a trooper during her recovery period.

Bella’s vet bills have been astronomical, which we knew they would be.  I have no regrets about the cost except for the fact that she did not live after everything they, and we, tried to do for her.   I would never ask for help if it was myself who had been ill, but for Bella I would do just about anything, including reaching out for help.

If you feel it in your heart to donate to help us recover from some of the vet bills ($9,228.98 at Blue Pearl Specialty and Emergency Pet Hospital in Spring, and $499.50 at the Emergency Pet Care of Texas on FM 1488), we would be forever grateful.  We maxed out all of our credit cards and I would do it again to try to help Bella, if that was possible.  And just knowing that you read this information about Bella and know how wonderful she was and how much she was loved and will be forever missed, makes us feel good.

Bella would have been 11 years old on February 21, 2018.   We are trying to have a positive outlook in the fact that she had almost 11 WONDERFUL years of life with us, and since she started out by being put into a dumpster, there is no telling what her life would have been like if she didn’t come to live with us.   We treasure every single moment she got to be with us.

Thank you and God Bless You.
