Help for a Navy Vietnam Veteran

Donation protected
Our Dad was a Boatswain's mate in the Navy during Vietnam and has dedicated a good part of his post military life to helping Disabled Veterans get the essential disability and compensation benefits they deserve. He has always been a committed advocate for Veterans in need and now we are humbly seeking support for him.

This past July our father fell in his home and was not able to get up. He spent 5 days on the floor of his home without food, water or much needed blood pressure medication. Suffering from severe dehydration and at the brink of death he was finally able to miraculously gain access to his phone and call 911 for help. Since the incident he has been in and out of ICU and is now currently at the Sheridan Wyoming Veteran's hospital for inpatient rehabilitation. This man never ceases to amaze us with his true grit and toughness.

Dad is slowly recovering from this incident but is not able to get around as well as before the incident. The intent of this GoFundMe page is to help pay for modest modifications to his small bathroom in his home so that he has safe and convenient access to his bathing facilities. We are currently filling out the VA “Home Improvements and Structural Alterations (HISA)” grant form to get him VA assistance for these modifications but this will only cover a small fraction of the cost for the much needed improvements. The modification goal is to replace the bathtub and replace it with a walk in shower and if funds allow, relocate toilet and sink to allow for room for his walker. Dad’s range of motion and stability is severely limited and is not expected to significantly improve; without these bathroom modifications, his quality of life will be reduced and so will his independence.
If anyone in the Sheridan Wyoming area knows of reputable Licensed and Bonded contractors in the area that may be able to assist getting this work done for him, please let us know. He is due to be released from the hospital in approximately 2 weeks. Ideally these modifications would be completed in time for his return home, but this goal may not be realistic. Therefore we are attempting to get the ball rolling to reduce the hazards of him falling again.

We understand everyone’s funds are limited, so any donation no matter how small is greatly appreciated. We will be posting progress pictures of the renovation as the work progresses.

Thank you for your heartfelt consideration.
