My name is Jaye I am supporting a refugee family in the camps, I understand that it is sometimes sceptical and difficult to donate to refugees, however, please see my story below!!! I have successfully transferred money to this family through a relative of theirs over the last 11 months.
Around November 2024, I stumbled across a video online, it was 4 or 5 precious little children playing in what appeared to be a dessert, the little girls were beautiful and reminded me of my own children, I scrolled through the creators videos and quickly realised these little ones where in a refugee camp.
I looked at the linked profile on TikTok and noticed their live stream, as I sat and watched I could see two men working diligently making small lumps of wet cardboard, curious I asked what this was for? Heating…. For hours over the next few weeks I watched as these men created hard lumps of cardboard to burn to keep their tent warm and their children warm!
Into the next few weeks they were using olive branches to create bundles of timber, curiosity struck again and I asked, why no cardboard? Only olive branches? The response, winter is upon them, there is no sun to dry the cardboard, and resources for cardboard are low.
Over the next couple of weeks, these guys would see me pop into their live and would say hello, ask how my kids are? Asked how the hubby is? How old my children are? One of the men’s wives would pop into the live and chat with me and answer my hundreds of questions about life in a refugee camp…. Relentless questioning!
The language barrier is now non existent (These guys know some English and I know none of their language haha) and I’ve made some awesome new friends… sharing updates on kids, weather, life, new jobs, and lifestyles!
Any way… the reason for this go fund me! After some research and investigation, there aren’t a lot of ways to help anyone living life in camp, but I have found a way. I’m going to put together some financial assistance and help these guys, their wives and children get through a harsh winter.
If you can help in any way, please do!
I’m going to make the coolest “care package” ever! Seriously $5 to us is a coffee, to these guys it’s a few meals! If you want to get amongst it, reach out!
