<div><strong>Our Family Story – Jon the Big Brother Who Stepped Up</strong>

<div>I want to share a bit about why Jon means so much to me. Growing up, our family had it tough. Our mom worked very long hours just to keep a roof over our heads. Our dad (Jon's adopted father) was there, but primarily absent from our emotional and educational lives. This meant that from a young age, Jon had to step up and become more than just my big brother, but responsible for our well being. He had to grow up faster than the rest of his young siblings and he's suffered because of it.

<div>When other kids our age were out playing or relaxing, Jon was working hard, trying to distract his siblings from the world and situation around them, and doing everything in his power to be as kind as he could. He was still just a kid himself, but he shouldered adult responsibilities because someone had to. He never complained. He just did what needed to be done, because he knew, for the most part, we only had each other to count on.

<div>As if that wasn’t enough, Jon has battled ADHD and depression throughout his life. These challenges could easily have overwhelmed him – and I know there were days they nearly did – but Jon kept going. Even when it was hard for him to focus or find motivation, he never let any of us, and especially me down. He put everyone's needs first every single time. I remember nights when he’d stay up late to make sure I was okay, even if he was exhausted or feeling low himself.

<div>To help our family survive those rough years, we both spent many weekends and weekdays doing manual labor with our father and grandpa. Picture two young boys hauling wood, fixing fences, and doing odd jobs on sweltering summer days. I can't personally remember a time where Jon would go and just give up no matter how tired or sick he was. Jon would make sure we all ate since we always tended to forget to eat, he'd see someone exhausted and try to help and have them take a break, and make sure that we are as safe as we can be. That’s the kind of person he is – always protecting everyone, always giving.

<div><strong>Jon’s Current Situation – A Hardworking Brother in Need</strong>

<div>Fast forward to today: Jon is an adult now, and despite all the challenges, he remains the same selfless, hardworking person. He’s never had it easy. He works as a delivery driver for Grubhub, which means no work = no pay. His Prius is his livelihood. That old car isn't just a way to get around; it’s how he earns every dollar to pay rent, buy groceries, and keep going.

<div>A few weeks ago, Jon experienced something no driver ever wants to face. While on a delivery, his brakes suddenly gave out. He pressed the pedal and felt nothing – the car just wouldn’t stop. In that panicked moment, he narrowly avoided a serious accident. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but it shook him up badly. After that scare, he had the car looked at immediately, and the news wasn’t good: critical parts of the braking and hybrid system have failed, and the car is not safe to drive until they’re fixed.

<div>Not being able to drive means Jon can’t work at all right now. He’s the kind of person who hates asking for help and has always tried to manage on his own, but this is one crisis he can’t tackle alone. I’m doing everything I can – I’m personally working more overtime and i will be donating $500 of my small savings to help, and Jon is trying to pick up odd jobs on foot where possible – but a car repair bill of $3,286.73 is way beyond our means. Every day the car sits in the shop is a day Jon isn’t earning income, and I’m worried about how he’ll cover his basic expenses if we can’t fix it soon.

<div><strong>What Needs Fixing – Repair Breakdown</strong>

<div>After the brake failure, the mechanic gave us a detailed rundown of what failed. There are two major components that need to be replaced:

<div>ABS Module Replacement – <strong>$2,153.48</strong> (Tier 1 Priority): This is the Anti-lock Braking System module, the part that controls the car’s braking safety functions. In simple terms, the ABS module regulates brake fluid pressure to prevent the wheels from locking up during braking. If this module isn’t working, the brakes can fail or behave unpredictably, which is exactly what happened to Jon. Replacing this module will restore safe braking. This is our top priority because without a functioning ABS, the car can’t be driven safely at all.

<div>Hybrid Inverter Replacement – <strong>$1,133.25</strong> (Tier 2): The inverter is essentially the power management unit of Jon’s Prius. It regulates the flow of electricity between the hybrid battery and the electric motor. In a Prius, the inverter converts the battery's DC power to AC for the motor, and also does the reverse when charging the battery. When the inverter fails, the car either won’t run or could break down at any moment. Replacing the inverter will ensure the Prius’s hybrid system runs reliably. This is the second priority – it’s crucial for the car’s overall function.

<div>Together, these repairs add up to <strong>$3,286.73</strong>, which is the goal I’ve set. The quote covers the parts and labor to get everything fixed. I’ve listed each item with its cost to be fully transparent about where the money will go. Every dollar from this fundraiser will go directly to paying the repair shop for these parts and the work to install them. If we can at least fund the ABS module first, that would be a huge step – it would make the car safe to drive again. Of course, we ultimately need to fix both for the Prius to be 100% operational.
