Help First-Gen Student Finish Their Undergrad

Introduction and Purpose:

Hello everyone! My name is Frances Guzman. I’m a first-generation, POC, low-income, queer transfer student. Even with working, Financial Aid, and loans, I still need about $8K+ to help me pay for my education and housing.

 

More About Me:

Currently, I’m in my last year of my undergraduate degree. I am studying English with a concentration in Creative Writing and minor in Gender Studies. I have a 3.8 GPA, am currently working 15 hours (while also looking for an additional job), involved in extracurriculars, am an honors student, and a researcher.

 

Breakdown of Funds Needed:

After Financial Aid, I owe $2,607.03 per quarter. In total, that becomes $7,821.09 for the academic year (Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters). With the additional costs of transportation, school books, and necessities like food and my phone bill, I will need around ~$8.3k. Any and all money from this GoFundMe will directly go towards my education and housing. If we happen to surpass the anticipated goal, any additional funds will continue to go towards my education as I plan to attend graduate school to obtain an M.A. and Ph.D.
