Help Fire Victims in Rio Sucio, Choco, Colombia

Donation protected
After the recent flooding tragedy in the department of Chocó on the Pacific coast of Colombia, an area mainly populated by Afro Colombian people, another disaster occurred in the town, Rio Sucio in the same department. On 28 November 2020 a fire in just one property got out of control and became very large-scale very quickly, destroying in total around 120 homes. They just don’t have the infrastructure to deal with that kind of emergency. They don’t even have a fire service in the town. As you can see in the video, it’s the people themselves who are desperately trying to put out the fire. And as this kind of thing gets very little news coverage and consequently support both from the government or other agencies, it’s a tragedy for all involved. I am Colombian by birth and have a lot of relatives in El Chocó. I am trying to find a way of helping the people there. They need fundamental basics such as toiletries, clothes and of course new homes constructing. Any money you are able to donate will be very gratefully received. The money raised will be forwarded to ASCOBA (Asociatión de Consejos Comunitarios del Bajo Atrato). It is of course very important that the money gets to the people who need it. ASCOBA is a trusted community association who will help the people on the ground. They need any donations as soon as possible. Sincere thanks in advance if you are able to help.
