Help Fight Immune Deficiencies

Donation protected
This is Jack
For those who don't know him he is the most kind hearted, happy and grateful person I have ever come across and has completely changed mine and everyone he is close to's life for the better. He is everything I could ask for and more.

He does however suffer from a terrible disease that he was born with, Hypogammaglobulinemia. This is an extremely rare condition that basically means his body does not produce enough white blood cells for him to live every day life. The white blood cells in our bodies are what produces our immune system and help our body fight disease and infection. Due to the lack of white blood cells, Jack therefore is extremely prone to infections and sickness.

He has been able to treat it since being diagnosed at 18 months by having blood infusions every 3 weeks. This process takes him 5 hours sitting in a hospital chair. Every time jack gets a blood transfusion it takes up to 100 people's plasma donations for him to get his full 3-weekly dose.

Jacks doctor recently told him he will be changing his blood infusion occurrence to every 4 weeks due to Jack 'seeming better'. While I wish this was a true statement, this change of occurence is partly due to the fact that there has been a white blood shortage for the past 10 years meaning greater restrictions have been placed on the qualifications of receiving blood donations. Further to this, with the advances in technology, plasma is now being used to treat a much wider range of conditions including Multiple Sclerosis and a range of other autoimmune disorders. With this higher demand for the blood products it is critical that more people donate to accomodate for the increasing number of patient who so heavily rely on this plasma.

I am asking you to please be aware of the extreme importance of donating plasma (white blood) whenever you can. It does take a little longer than donating red blood because of the process but please understand that people like Jack would be dead if it weren't for people donating.

Please share this, as I want to raise awareness and would be so grateful for everyone out there to know that there is something you can do to make a number of people's life better.

On top of this, I am trying to raise money for research to be dedicated to research into immune deficiencies. They are extreme disease that unfortunately don't get enough focus to come up with the right answers.  The Immune Deficiency Foundation do fantastic work to try and help people who live with these conditions. Even a small $5 donation would be so unbelievably amazing and appreciated. Thank you.
