Help Felix Afford Masculinizing Chest Surgery

I'm Felix, a transgender activist-organizer living in Oklahoma, USA, and I'm having masculinizing chest surgery. This is a surgery my partner and I can afford by spending minimally until the surgery date next summer; after the election results, though, I yearn for lighthearted dinner dates, going to the movies on a bad day, and taking small trips to hike in nature. I will be able to have the surgery regardless of funds raised; however, money raised will give us flexibility in saving, and any money raised beyond the goal will be split amongst the surgery fundraisers of my trans friends.

Q: What is "Masculinizing Chest Surgery"?

A: Often referred to in the transgender community as "top surgery," this procedure removes breast tissue. Unlike a masectomy, the surgeon leaves some behind in creating the appearance of a traditionally male chest. The nipple and areola are also relocated and resized.

Q: Why do you want this surgery?

A: A more masculine chest would not only allow me to feel more comfortable in my body as a transgender man, but afford me some safety in being read as "cis" (non-transgender) in my day-to-day. Conditions in the US are becoming increasingly more hostile to transgender people, and this would alliviate some of my worries.

Q: How did you pick this goal amount?

A: I arbitrarily chose the total surgery costs as my goal (see above invoice), but any amount helps: I can withdraw funds regardless of meeting that number. I also chose the goal to clearly denote when funds would stop going towards myself and start going towards friends' fundraisers, should I be lucky enough to surpass it.

Q: I have other questions but I'm worried they're invasive. Can I ask?

A: Sure! I understand most people just aren't aware of transgender issues. If a question is invasive, rest assured I will gently tell you so. Message me privately and I'll respond.
