Help Feed Tornado Disaster Responders

Donation protected
At 9:30 p.m. on Friday December 10th a mile-wide tornado tore through Western Kentucky along its 200 mile path and changed the lives of people in that area forever. The stories from the victims are terrifying and even those not directly impacted are in shock. Initial reports indicate that it will take years to rebuild the affected communities of Mayfield, Dawson Springs and surrounding areas. Just a few weeks before Christmas what is most needed by those affected is food, a hot shower, a place to sleep, and lots of compassion.

With the historic tornado narrowly missing his home by just a few miles, local businessman Mark Sullivan immediately set out to help, Mark took one of his Visalia’s he breeds and competes to help search for trapped victims. Later that weekend Mark and his staff at the Subway in Calvert City Kentucky began making box meals for disaster responders. They are committed to continuing feeding the volunteers helping their community long after the news crews are gone and this tragedy is forgotten by those not from the area.

For at least the next 2 months, if not longer, the Calvert City Subway will continue to provide the manpower and logistics to feed the disaster responders and others. This effort is being coordinated in conjunction with Illinois State Baptist Association Disaster Relief Team and Zions Cause Baptist Church in Benton Ky. The Subway Team is making 200 box meals a day! For $3.50 you can provide the food to make a meal for one of the first responders. The local Subway is donating the time, labor and logistics.

Thank you for helping to nourish the caregivers responding to this heartbreaking tragedy!
