The Mufeed Project
Nigeria is Africa’s wealthiest, most populous nation, and known to have the fastest-growing economy. Despite this, more than half of the country lives below the poverty line, and suffer the world’s third highest level of chronic undernutrition amongst children. This silent crisis is caused by lack of access to safe water and sanitation, rising food insecurity. Millions of Nigerians live in “food insecure” households meaning they don’t know where their next meal is going to come from. To alleviate the national hunger crisis hitting families across Nigeria, The Mufeed Project has established its hunger alleviation program to help both individuals and families from going hungry.
The Mufeed Project utilizes its full resources to launch effective programs that target impoverished communities thereby bringing life, nourishment and hope one meal at a time. In 2020, during the Covid_19 pandemic we raised $7,627. We distributed hot meals and groceries in for various communities in Lagos and Kwara State Nigeria. In 2021, we raised 10,472.52. We distributed groceries for Ramadan to widows in the outskirts of Lagos. We prepared hot meals for various Muslim communities all over Lagos, Osun, and Kwara State.
This year we’re increasing our efforts to fundraise in order to reach more people during Ramadan (April 02, 2022- May 02, 2022). Ramadan is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting (sawm), prayer, reflection and community. Every year, we organize iftaar for the less privileged to local communities and distribute food items as well. This year, we will center our activities on orphans and widows, two highly marginalized and forgotten demographs in Nigeria.
With your support, our plan of providing iftaar and distributing food items for multitudes of less privileged persons in communities will be a reality.
