We are The Toronto Power Group, a volunteer peer group committed to improving ourselves and bettering the lives of people in our community.
There are staggering numbers of families in need that struggle to put food on their table right here in our city in Toronto, poverty is not some issue just in other far off countries, it affects hundreds of people in your community but as a community we can do something about it to give them a "happy thanksgiving "
For the last 4 years, we have delivered Thanksgiving dinner baskets to families in need.
This year we need your help.
Our goal is raise $5000 to feed 100 families in need in Toronto on October 7th, 2017.
So far we don't have any funds and therefore your support is of the utmost importance.
All these families are counting on us to help them have a true and happy thanksgiving dinner and we just can't let them down.
We could really use your support to pull off a miracle.
The Toronto Power Group Basket Brigade is modelled after the Anthony Robbins International Basket Brigade, which is built on a simple notion: one small act of generosity on the part of one caring person can transform the lives of hundreds.
Here are some examples of the difference we have made in people's lives , like Laura, one of previous year's recipients:
"I was very, very, very thankful for the basket. I could not believe my eyes when I saw what was in the basket. Everything was so nice, and you must care because you put the note and the recipe in. This was my first thanksgiving in Canada, and I followed the recipe to a tee – it was a beautiful dinner for my family – my husband was very pleased and impressed. I was so thankful, I was crying"
and another example from Nicole:
"I receive a lot of help from different agencies, but the basket you delivered actually flabbergasted me and I actually cried - real tears, real crying - I felt such gratitude."
Each basket contains:
1 - 10lb Turkey
1 - box of potatoes
1 - box of stuffing
1 - can of cranberry sauce
2 - can of corn
2 - can of beans
1 - can of gravy
1 - bunch of thyme
1 - head of garlic
2 - whole lemon
1 - whole onion
1 - package of rolls
1 - butter
1 - pumpkin pie
1 - aluminum pan
1 - turkey recipe
1 - laundry basket
Whatever support you can provide will make such a profound difference.
