<div><strong>Help FAR Build Escape Routes for Trans and Queer People </strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>For many trans and queer people in the United States, the question is no longer whether to stay. It's <strong><em>how to leave safely</em></strong>.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>That's why FAR exists.</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>LGBTQ+ Assoc. Far (“FAR”,</strong> lgbtqfar.org<strong>)</strong> is currently a 100% volunteer-led nonprofit based in Barcelona, Catalunya, Spain — currently ranked #1 most queer-friendly country in the world, in a region with some of the strongest LGBTQ+ legal protections in the world, and a deep cultural memory of what happens when identity is treated as something to be silenced.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><em>“Far” means lighthouse in Catalan, representing guidance, safety, and hope – and </em><strong><em>FAR</em></strong><em> is here to help people find their way to safer ground.</em>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>FAR</strong> was established in March 2026 when a group of queer and trans volunteers decided to show up for their community. In a matter of months, we’ve transformed into a fully operational multi-national organization operating in every conceivable timezone.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>FAR</strong> supports at-risk trans and queer individuals facing government oppression, helping them to navigate displacement, relocation, and asylum-related challenges. Currently our focus is on the United States, with plans to broaden the scope of our operations in the years to come.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>- What We’re Facing -</strong>
</div>
<ul>
<li>Life in the U.S. is becoming progressively harder and more dangerous for LGBTQ+ individuals. Thousands of anti-trans bills have materialized across the country in recent years, with nearly 1,000 introduced in 2025. These bills specifically target civil and human rights. Hundreds have passed, hundreds more are still working through the courts, and 750+ new bills have been introduced in 2026 alone.
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<ul>
<li>Access to healthcare, legal identity, and the right to participate in public life have all been put at risk. Where queer individuals were once able to live with relative freedom and self determination, this legislation now poses a clear and credible danger to collective wellbeing and safety. (<a href="https://translegislation.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><a href="https://translegislation.com/" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://translegislation.com/</a></a>)
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<ul>
<li>The Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention has even issued multiple Red Flag Alerts warning that the U.S. is in the early-to-mid stages of a genocidal process targeting trans and nonbinary people. (<a href="https://www.lemkininstitute.com/red-flag-alerts" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><a href="https://www.lemkininstitute.com/red-flag-alerts" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://www.lemkininstitute.com/red-flag-alerts</a></a>)
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<ul>
<li>In May 2026, the White House released a counterterrorism strategy that explicitly categorizes "pro-transgender" groups alongside cartels and terror organizations, with a presidential forward ending with the direct threat, “We will find you, and we will kill you.” (<a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp</a></a>content/uploads/2026/05/2026-USCT-Strategy-1.pdf)
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><em>People are looking for a way out. Most of them are trying to figure it out alone. Times are bleak, but there is hope, and </em><strong><em>you can be part of the solution.</em></strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Concretely, that means supporting us in our mission of helping people build asylum cases, prepare documentation, navigate the relocation process, and connect with a community on the other side. We provide an asylum resource packet, one-on-one guidance sessions, and mentorship grounded in lived experience – because our approach was built directly from our founder's own asylum journey from the U.S. to Catalunya.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>- What Your Support Enables -</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>FAR</strong> currently operates entirely on volunteer labor with no paid staff. Every dollar donated goes toward sustaining the day-to-day operations that keep our services free and our team responsive: communications infrastructure, documentation resources, platform costs, and the operational foundation that lets us show up when someone reaches out and needs our help now.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We're working toward more: expanded asylum and relocation resources, new platforms and channels to reach people who need us, community programming that supports people before, during, and after their move, and eventually, paid roles for team members doing the critical work.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We have big plans, and every contribution helps make those plans a reality.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>- How to Help -</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Give to the best of your capacity. Share this page with someone who might need it, or someone who'd want to support the people who do. The people who need <strong>FAR</strong> most may not know we exist yet, and your reach extends ours.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>FAR</strong>'s vision is a world where no queer or trans person has to navigate displacement alone. We're building toward that, and we need you with us.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With your donations, you can help us keep <strong><em>delivering free resources &amp; peer support to seekers in need. </em></strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our estimated operational costs sit at just over $60,000/year ($150/day). With a <strong>$50 donation</strong>, just <strong>3 people </strong>per day can keep us afloat.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Be part of the solution today.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>--
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong><em>FAR </em></strong><em>grew out of our founder Kate's personal asylum journey. You can support Kate directly through her GoFundMe (<a href="https://www.gofundme.com/f/TransAsylumSeeker-TestCase" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Kate's GoFundMe</a>), which sustains Kate through her ongoing asylum process as she continues to lead this work.</em>
