<div>Our family is from Santa Rosa de Cabal, just outside Pereira, Colombia — one of the hardest-hit areas of the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck the Eje Cafetero region on August 10, 2026. Over 200 people are confirmed dead, and more than 1,600 homes are damaged or destroyed. This isn't a headline for us; it's people we call every week. Nearly everyone in our family was touched in some way: our uncle's roof collapsed and needs to be rebuilt, a cousin and her boyfriend lost their jobs when part of the university where she worked came down, and others are patching cracked walls and broken windows. We know many neighbors around Santa Rosa are facing far worse — which is why our family on the ground is also volunteering to help distribute aid where it's needed most.

<div>Every dollar raised goes toward supplies for displaced families and shelter residents in Santa Rosa de Cabal's rural veredas, including San Bernardino, Guayabito, El Español, and La Capilla:

<div>Celene and Juan toured the shelters in Pereira on August 13 and sent us video of what families need most right now — you can see it, along with real-time photos from the ground, on our campaign site. Donations go through GoFundMe, and I personally withdraw and transfer the funds directly to family in Santa Rosa de Cabal via Bancolombia/Nequi; on the ground, Celene and Juan turn those funds into supplies for the shelters and veredas. I'll post receipts and photos of what's purchased, and a full breakdown of how funds were used once the emergency phase settles.

<div>Nuestra familia es de Santa Rosa de Cabal, muy cerca de Pereira, Colombia — una de las zonas más golpeadas por el terremoto de magnitud 7.4 que sacudió el Eje Cafetero el 10 de agosto de 2026. Hay más de 200 personas fallecidas confirmadas y más de 1,600 viviendas dañadas o destruidas. Esto no es un titular para nosotros; son las personas a las que llamamos cada semana. Casi toda nuestra familia se vio afectada de alguna manera: el techo de nuestro tío colapsó y hay que reconstruirlo, una prima y su novio perdieron sus trabajos cuando se derrumbó parte de la universidad donde ella trabajaba, y otros están reparando paredes agrietadas y ventanas rotas. Sabemos que muchos vecinos de Santa Rosa enfrentan situaciones mucho peores — por eso nuestra familia en el terreno también está ayudando como voluntaria a distribuir ayuda donde más se necesita.
