<div>I’m reaching out today on behalf of a family that truly needs our help — a hard-working, kind-hearted family that has faced nothing but bad luck when it comes to finding a safe and stable home.  Amanda and Brian Clarke are some of the most genuine people you will ever meet.   They are always there with a helping hand for anyone in need, but now they are the ones that need us.  In an attempt to secure stable housing for their family of 5, they have been met with a devastating scam.

<div>After facing economic crisis in Alberta as a result of the oil field recession, they spent years  rebuilding their lives through new careers and training while raising their three children.  They finally were in a place to start building what was supposed to be their long-term security, a piece of land with a modest one-level 1100 square foot home — a place of stability, comfort, and peace that they so deserve. But what should have been a joyful journey has turned into a heartbreaking nightmare.

<div>Scammed by Their Builder and Engineer

<div>They discovered a builder who had recently appeared on local news, promoting affordable housing options for families trying to break into homeownership. He seemed genuine, experienced, and innovative.  The family hired this building company,  that was supposed to ensure that their home was built safely and to code. Instead, they were left betrayed and financially devastated.

</div>

<div>Shockingly, the engineer responsible for approving the building had never set foot on the property — until serious issues were flagged by Amanda.  It became clear that he had intended to inspect only once construction was complete. This lack of oversight contributed directly to:

<div>Dangerous and substandard construction

</div>

<div>Violations of safety and building codes

</div>

<div>Potential condemnation of the home

</div>

<div>Meanwhile, the builder cut corners, misused funds, and abandoned critical aspects of the build. Now the family is left with a half-finished  structure and expired lease which has led them to be split up and housed separately while waiting for their home to be completed.

</div>

<div>Legal action is underway, but as you can imagine, that takes time, energy, and even more money — none of which this family has to spare after pouring everything they had into this build.
