My family and I have been going through a difficult financial hardship related to my battle with recurrent cancer. I was first diagnosed with thyroid cancer 12 years ago and beat it until last February where during a routine scan it not only showed nodules in my thyroid bed again but that the cancer spread to my right lung. After a round of radiation and chemotherapy, we were unfortunately informed that the cancer ended up spreading to my left lung as well. We were not prepared for the hardship that would lay ahead of us. I have not been able to work for over a year due to my illness. I have utilized the programs we qualify for and am extremely grateful. I also volunteer in the community when possible to try and give back what has been graciously given to us. Unfortunately my car was recently repossessed so it is difficult trying to arrange rides to Dr's appointments at times. Our biggest concern however is being able to get caught up on bills and to be able to stay up to date with our mortgage until I am able to return to work so my children don't have to be worried about losing our home.
