This is my sister Evelyn in the car she bought.
Hard working, single mother and part time student, Evelyns' always been the kind of woman who never gives up.
She knew that buying a car in cash was the best option, instead of financing which meant getting into debt. She had dreams of upgrading to something reliable, something she could feel proud of for her daughter and her. The thought of driving her daughter to school in a car that didn’t sound like it might break down at any moment made her push harder.
Driving to college which is about 17 miles away during the week, commuting to work and dropping off her daughter to school every morning, I witness my sister working double shifts, including night shifts, and holidays. She was determined , and saved up every dollar she could to upgrade her current 23 year old suv.
She came across an ad on Craigslist ,the seller, a man named Eddie Paul Kostaneda was offering a 2021 Toyota 4runner with 50k miles clean tittle. Called and messaged the seller, and met the following day at a Wells Fargo Bank located in Corona CA.

Once my sister test-drove the car they negotiated the price and both agreed on twenty-tree thousand dollars . We checked the pink tittle and registration and made sure they matched the cars VIN. Once he filled up the top half, signed it,Evelyn handed over the cash, and Eddie gave her the keys.
Evelyn felt so accomplished , all her hard work had paid off.
All this done inside the bank. Nothing seemed off, the guy seemed trustworthy, and honest.
We drove back home, feeling happy and grateful that she had finally purchased a better car.
The following day after going to the DMV something wasn't adding up. Eddie had turned off his phone. After speaking to Cops we found out that it was a stolen car.
We were in disbelief , and heartbroken. I can't believe this happened to her.
The car wasn't reported stolen at the moment of Evelyn buying it, because the owners didn't know their car was missing. The car was sold with a fake tittle.
Now all we can do is wait for the police and DMV to do their part of the investigation. I hope they can find him so he doesn't do this to anyone else.
I created this post because we want to spread the word out, and warn others to not be victims of the same Fraud.
Unfortunately my sister was an easy target,
a young vulnerable single-mother.
For anyone who's going to buy a car,
please MEET at a DMV office to make sure its legitimate,
The DMV staff was shocked at the pink tittle, which had the watermark, because a cars title can be forged, and an ID can be fake.
It's been rough these past months, and scammers are finding out ways to make easy money.
Evelyn is such a friendly person, bubbly personality , and if you ever get a chance to hang out or talk to her she makes you feel like a friend right away. She doesn't ever judge anyone and is always cheerful, it was natural to her to trust Eddie. She talked to him about being a single-mother and how she had saved up for a few years. He repeated constantly "God Bless you, and your family"
All to find out he lied. He was heartless and only cared about taking her money.
Evelyn doesn't give up, she's a fighter, a strong woman, and it saddens me to see all her hard effort, sacrificing holidays and long hours of work. All to waste.
She's now having to start all over.
She's staying positive and hopeful something good will come out of this.
The dream of a new car is still alive, just delayed for now,
and more importantly, she has learned a tough lesson about trust and resilience.
Thank you for taking the time to read her story.
Thank you anyone who wishes to donate,
anything helps and any words of encouragement to her will gladly be appreciated.
