Help Evelyn Bowman Following Her Liver Transplant

Donation protected
Hi, we are special childhood friends of Evelyn. We are reaching out for help on her behalf as she prepares for a life-saving surgery. On Thursday, July 28, 2022, Evelyn will be receiving a new liver, thanks to a living donor transplant from her daughter, Shannon.

Evelyn was diagnosed with a non-alcoholic fatty liver in 2002. For many years, her health remained stable thanks to several different medications. However, her health took a drastic turn for the worse in March 2022.

Evelyn's liver condition played a factor in her needing to have her gallbladder to be removed. Her health has been in a steady decline ever since. Since March she been in and out of the hospital for a wide-ranging number of ailments and surgical procedures.

Evelyn has been on the liver transplant list since 2004. However, it wasn't until March of this year that her health deteriorated to the point where she was placed on the critical transplant list.

Given her condition, the transplant team at Johns Hopkins asked Evelyn if there were a family members or someone close to her who would be willing to be tested to see if they were a potential match for a live donor. Thankfully, Evelyn's daughter Shannon was tested and deemed to be the best candidate for the transplant.

Evelyn is a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She and her husband, Jim, have a beautiful blended family, which includes four grown children and 8 grandchildren. Evelyn wants nothing more than to be there for her entire family for many years to come.

As you can imagine, such extensive health conditions have placed a large financial burden for Evelyn and Jim. Evelyn was forced to stop working in 2019. She is also anticipating extrodinary medical bills from the surgery and extended hospitalization along with medications she will be required to take for the rest of her life. It's estimated that the cost of the medications alone will be $1,000 a month after insurance.

Our initial goal is to give Evelyn and her family a little peace of mind by raising enough money to cover her initial hospital bills and medication expenses for the first year following her surgery.

We know these are uncertain times for many people, but any help you can offer for Evelyn and her family would be greatly appreciated.
