Please help these children and their families survive the war and famine before it's too late.
Dear friends, family, and sympathetic supporters,
My name is Ali, I am a Palestinian residing in the UK, reaching out to you in a time of great urgency and desperation. I implore your assistance in raising funds to support my elderly parents and my extended family who are living in Gaza, through this GoFundMe page. With your help and generosity, we aim to cover essential expenses to ensure that my parents, four siblings, and their spouses and children (totaling 15 people) can maintain access to shelter and food in order to survive the ongoing war.
Our beloved family in Gaza has been ravaged by the ongoing conflict. My elderly parents suffer from various chronic ailments. My father, aged 75, struggles with heart conditions and kidney problems, and may soon need to go on dialysis in order to survive. My mother has high blood pressure and diabetes. Both have been without treatment or medication for many months and cannot access necessary medications. Alongside them are my three sisters, their husbands and children, my brother, his wife, and their infant daughter – all have been displaced multiple times, their homes demolished, their lives upended. We had previously sought to evacuate them from Gaza, but before long this became far too dangerous to attempt. Like most families in Gaza, we have lost relatives, neighbours, and friends. Some were killed, others remain missing under the rubble or of unknown fate. The inability to recover or bury loved ones has been one of the most painful parts of this tragedy.
Each day is a battle for survival as my brother and brothers-in-law venture out in search of basic necessities, often returning empty-handed, haunted by the sight of their hungry, thirsty children and my elderly parents grappling with illness amidst the chaos. My sister Maha and her husband Tarek are both physicians. Tarek has continued to work in hospitals despite the risks that this entails, while Maha stays with their children, Rose, Lin, and newborn baby Ziyad.
They have endured harrowing ordeals that compelled them and their children to inhabit a nightmarish existence. They were initially trapped in the Shati camp and then sought refuge in Al-Shifa Hospital, which was deemed a safe haven until Israeli forces stormed it, forcing them to flee once more to Khan Yunis. They later moved to Nasser Hospital, only to face repeated bombings of the hospital. Now, most of the group are living amid the ruins of our former home even though 90% of the building has been destroyed. They have used wood, cloth, and any available materials to create a small makeshift shelter within the rubble. It is unsafe, but they have no reliable alternative.
Yet amidst this darkness, glimmers of hope persist. We refuse to witness our loved ones endure this nightmare alone. We launched this fundraiser with the aim of evacuating our family from the horrors of war, but this soon became impossible. For the foreseeable future, we are seeking any amount of support to help them get what little shelter, food, medicine, and other necessary goods they can find.
No donation is insignificant. Each dollar, share, and act of kindness brings us closer to reuniting our family and granting them a chance at a future devoid of fear and uncertainty. I beseech you to open your hearts and stand in solidarity with us. Together, we can effect change. Together, we can restore hope to those most in need.
It is difficult to describe the state of Gaza’s economy, which is barely functioning. What has been a certainty for many months now is that levels of inflation seem to know no limits, and that it is nearly impossible to find regular goods like soap, infant diapers, and other necessities.
In order to maintain access to food, bottled water, and fabric for tents, they estimate needing USD $100 each day, on average. With this in mind, we are aiming to raise USD $3000 per month, until the circumstances on the ground change and more food and supplies enter Gaza once again. If we reach our target goal of GBP £67,000, we will be able to cover daily expenses for the remainder of 2025 and all of 2026. We may increase our goal depending on how circumstances on the ground evolve, and will post updates about any changes we make.
Thank you for your compassion, kindness, and unwavering support.
With profound gratitude,
Ali and his family
