Help Ethan Yuska Fight Leukemia

On January 24th, 2021, my 18-year-old brother, Ethan Yuska, fulfilled a longtime goal of his and committed to play football as a kicker for the University of West Florida on a scholarship. The very next day, Ethan began feeling incredibly ill and was rushed to the ER where he had a CT, bone marrow biopsy, and bloodwork done. My family and I were devastated to learn that Ethan was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
It's difficult to put into words what it is like to see your 18-year-old brother transform from a vibrant pre-collegiate athlete, to a lethargic version of himself poking out from under a crumpled heap of hospital blankets. For him to fall so ill within the span of a few days is something I never expected or prepared myself for.
Ethan has since received intravenous antibiotics and several units of platelet transfusions. He is currently in stable condition on an inpatient oncology floor at a hospital in Pensacola. My parents, Mark and Kelly, and my sisters, Dani and Haley, are by his side while Ethan begins the fight for his life. Ethan receives his first round of chemotherapy this Friday. If his disease isn't responsive to the chemotherapy within a few months, he may require a bone marrow transplant.
We are grateful for the support we've received so far from our friends, family, and Ethan's football community. I see his spirits rise with your words of encouragement and hope. Many people have asked how they can help and have suggested that I set this up. These funds will be used for out-of-pocket costs that have already occurred and will occur over the next year while Ethan battles leukemia. My parents will be missing work, some of it unpaid, while being with Ethan. As my family gears up for the long road ahead, we thank you for support while we do everything we can to support Ethan and help him beat cancer. We are hopeful that Ethan will make it through this and will be back out on the football field to play another day.
