My name is Kathy, and I’m reaching out to ask for help with my brother Larry Medlin Jr.'s funeral expenses. My mom, Essie Patterson, is eighty years old and has been the rock of our family. She is currently battling heart failure and kidney failure, all while raising Larry’s two youngest children, whom she has cared for since they came home from the hospital. Living on social security, it’s been nearly impossible for her to save for unexpected expenses like funeral arrangements.

 Larry was just 56 years old and had been struggling with diabetes and other health issues. Two days ago, he suffered a massive heart attack, and despite the efforts of the doctors and EMS, he could not be revived. Our family is heartbroken, but the loss is especially devastating for my mom. Losing a loved one is always hard, but losing a child—even a grown child—is a pain no mother should have to bear.

 We are doing everything we can to support each other, but the financial burden of funeral expenses is more than we can manage alone.
