Help Escondido Residents Avoid Homelessness

Donation protected
Liberation News Coverage A group of residents in Escondido that are being forced out of their homes. Many of these residents have nowhere to go, no income, no transportation, and have disabilities and/or illnesses.

The City of Escondido is suing them for meaningless code violations and has done nothing to help them find alternative housing. CBS8 published several news stories demonizing them as "squatters." The water district has shut off their water, so they live without accessible drinking water or indoor plumbing.

PSL San Diego has been working closely with these residents. They are not criminals; they are good people trying to get by in a country that gives them nothing and punishes people for being poor.

We are raising funds to help with some of the expenses of moving:

  • Car registration and maintenance
  • Rental application and credit check fees
  • Renting a dumpster (so they can clean up and avoid fines by the city)
  • Water (since the city has turned off their water)
