Hello all - GoFundMe recently purchased YouCaring.com, where the fundraiser was officially started by my friend, Jen Voccola. Thank you to all my donors, as of July 23, 2018, $12,027 has been raised.
I'm pasting her message here:
This fundraiser is for our amazing friend, Erin Peters. Erin was recently diagnosed with stage 3C ovarian cancer.
Erin only recently moved back to her home in Ventura County to start a new job and was diagnosed within a month before she fell sick. The doctor told her that the crazy aggressive cancer had spread through her body (colon, diaphragm, tumors, appendix) in 4-6 weeks! She has undergone a major surgery to remove as much of it as possible, and is about to embark on 18 weeks of dose-dense chemo at Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles.
The hefty bills are beginning to roll in and her ability to work will be limited during treatment, so funds are needed immediately. She needs our love and financial support for this fight! Costs will go toward the hospital bills, chemo, other prescriptions, transportation, and other associated costs.
We're starting with a lower goal for now, but surgery and one year of cancer treatment can cost upwards of $200,000.
Updates on how Erin is doing and information on other ways to help will be posted here as well.

NOTE: As noted above, Erin recently moved from the Coachella Valley (Palm Springs area) and it was during the moving process (packing and such) that she noticed some slight pain (cramps) and bloating. She nearly chalked it up to stress and normal woman pains and almost didn't follow up with her gynecologist. But she did mention it. The annual check ups check for cervical cancer, not ovarian.
Ovarian cancer doesn't have good screening and doesn't have the marketing budget or support like - for example - breast cancer. So it typically isn't found until stage 3 or 4. Erin is urging her network to speak up to their doctor and ask for a pelvic or vaginal ultrasound to make sure her female friends feel at ease.
