Erica has been my best friend for almost 30 years. And even though life has given her more struggles than she ever deserved, she always goes out of her way to make anybody laugh or smile. She volunteers at the local thrift shop and always helps as much as possible to anyone in need.

What most people don’t know is that in July 2024, she was diagnosed with stage four invasive lobular breast cancer. It has made its way through her lymph nodes, spine, ribs, pelvis, femur, right arm, and all throughout her skin and scalp. Unable to work, she has had to make a lot of financial changes. Ever the champion that she is, she pushes on with love in her heart and an open hand to anyone who needs it.

Throughout her treatments, medical and holistic, she is still a mom and caring for three boys, 18, 14, and 11. She is a full-time caregiver for her middle son because he has an unbalanced chromosome translocation. It causes him to have multiple seizures per hour, severe intellectual disability, and orthopedic impairments. So you can imagine, between the two of them, they are constantly going back and forth to appointments.

Unfortunately, since her diagnosis, she is unable to find a permanent residence. That is incredibly hard for anyone, but it is particularly difficult because of the situation she is in. Having terminal cancer, trying to raise three boys, paying bills, buying groceries, keeping her 11 year old van on the road, buying the needed supplements, taking her son 3 times a week an hour away to physical therapy, making family dinners, and trying to take care of herself. I don’t know how she does it. Now, more than ever they need and deserve kindness from all of us.

I would really like to raise money for the down payment on a forever home for her and her children. They are so close at being able to purchase the home that they are currently living in. It is perfect for their situation, one story, wheelchair accessible, and in close proximity to family. We are trying to raise more money towards the down payment and closing cost so that the monthly payments will be affordable for them.
