<div>I'm raising funds for my friend Eric, who is caring for his elderly parents while waiting for his U visa and work permit to be approved. (The U visa is specifically for victims of violent crimes who have suffered and cooperated with law enforcement.) With the recent deportation of their family’s sole financial supporter, they are now without any source of income and urgently need help to stay housed and cover basic living expenses.

<div>Eric first came to the U.S. in 1999 and worked as a landscaper. One day, while cashing his paycheck, he was robbed and shot, leaving him paralyzed. After recovering, he was deported. He later returned on a tourist visa to care for his father (who had a stroke) and mother (recently diagnosed with a tumor). Eric chose to overstay his visa to stay by their side—because they had no one else.

<div>Estoy recaudando fondos para mi amigo Eric, quien cuida de sus padres ancianos mientras espera la aprobación de su visa U y permiso de trabajo. (La visa U está destinada a víctimas de crímenes violentos que han sufrido y cooperado con las autoridades.) Con la reciente deportación del único sostén económico de la familia, ahora están sin ninguna fuente de ingresos y necesitan ayuda urgente para tener un lugar donde vivir y cubrir sus gastos básicos.
