Hello, my name is Piedad, and I am creating this fundraiser on behalf of my nephew Emanuel Rizzo and his family.

Emanuel is 12 years old and lives with a disability and difficult-to-manage epilepsy. He was born completely healthy in 2013, but at just six weeks old he began experiencing persistent, intermittent fevers. He was taken multiple times to clinics and hospitals, where his family was told it was not serious and to treat it with common medications.

Sadly, his condition worsened and he was rushed to the hospital—by then it was too late. Emanuel had pneumonia that was not detected in time, which led to respiratory failure and, as a result, cerebral palsy.

Today, Emanuel continues with therapies and treatments, but without significant improvement. Despite this, his family has not lost hope. They have identified a stem cell treatment in Cuenca, Ecuador that has shown promising results for other children with similar conditions.

The treatment is expensive, and the family must also travel from Colombia to Ecuador, covering transportation, lodging, meals, and medical-related expenses throughout the process. For this reason, we are asking for your support.

Every donation—no matter the amount—will go directly toward Emanuel’s treatment and the necessary travel and medical expenses. If you are unable to donate, sharing this campaign is also a meaningful way to help.

Hola, mi nombre es Piedad, y estoy creando esta campaña en nombre de mi sobrino Emanuel Rizzo y su familia.

Emanuel tiene 12 años y vive con una discapacidad y epilepsia de difícil manejo. Nació en 2013 completamente sano, pero al mes y medio de vida comenzó con fiebre constante e intermitente. Fue llevado en varias ocasiones a puestos de salud y hospitales, donde se indicó que no era nada grave y que se tratara con medicamentos comunes.

Lamentablemente, su condición empeoró y fue llevado de urgencia al hospital; para ese momento, ya era demasiado tarde. Emanuel tenía una neumonía que no fue detectada a tiempo, lo que le provocó un paro respiratorio y, como consecuencia, una parálisis cerebral.

Actualmente, Emanuel continúa con terapias y tratamientos, pero sin avances significativos. A pesar de ello, su familia no pierde la esperanza. Han encontrado una opción de tratamiento con células madre en Cuenca, Ecuador, que ha mostrado resultados alentadores en otros niños con condiciones similares.

El tratamiento es costoso y, además, la familia debe viajar desde Colombia hasta Ecuador, cubriendo gastos de transporte, hospedaje, alimentación y atención médica durante el proceso. Por esta razón, hoy pedimos su ayuda.

Cada donación, sin importar la cantidad, será destinada al tratamiento de Emanuel y a los gastos necesarios para su viaje y cuidado médico. Si no puedes donar, compartir esta campaña también es una gran forma de apoyar.
