Help Elouise Receive Heartworm Treatment

Elouise is a rescued pup (anywhere from 7-10 months old) who recently tested positive for heartworm.
Heartworm is an internal parasite that’s transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito. Just one bite is enough to spread the disease. After being bitten, heartworm larvae begin to develop in the tissue of your pet. Adult heartworms look like strands of spaghetti and can reach up to 12 inches in length. Left untreated heartworms can cause heart and lung damage, organ failure, and even death. Unfortunately, treatment is costly, painful, and time-intensive. The treatment takes up to six months, as once the worms are killed with an arsenic substance, a pup has to be restricted from exercising to not cause further harm.
I came upon Elouise (I renamed her Elouise after binging Bridgerton, obviously) from a sorority sister, whose mother had taken her in after an elderly man found her abandoned and couldn't keep her. Her separation anxiety heavily emphasizes how she's moved from home to home in her lifetime, but when she gets the opportunity to rip into my favorite pair of shoes, her spirit is immaculate. In her spare time, Elouise cuddles with my cat Martini, chases my cat Evander, howls because she can, and bites my feet. She basically does nothing else. She is perfect.
Dogs who test positive for heartworms are often tossed aside, and rarely adopted from shelters because of how costly the treatment is. I work my butt off to pay rent, keep my grades high, and spoil my animals, but heartworm treatment is definitely out of bounds when it comes to my savings account.
Once I have received about half of the funds, I can begin treatment, but Heartworm can develop and grow quickly so I am hoping to reach my goal by mid February. Everything donated will go directly to her treatment and her comfort. I will adjust the goal as necessary whether the cost goes up and down while keeping everyone updated on her treatment process!
