Help Ellie kick Leukemia’s ass
Hi my name is Nikki Peterson and my fiancé Skyler and I are setting this up for our friend Sara Beach. She recently got some heartbreaking news involving her daughter Ellie.
Ellie is an overall healthy and happy five year old little girl. They noticed her feeling very lethargic and just not herself. On August 12, they were in Galena, IL for Sara’s grandpa’s funeral when they noticed her belly was very bloated.
Sara decided Ellie needed to go to the doctor. What she thought would be an easy visit, quickly turned into a life changing one. They were told they would be medflighted to Madison. Madison didn’t have room soon enough so they took a 2 hour ambulance ride to the University of Iowa Children’s hospital.
Ellie has unfortunately been diagnosed with T Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and has since been through blood transfusions, a spinal tap, bone marrow biopsy, has a pic line, and has started chemo.
She is responding well to treatment but will be in Iowa for another week and a half and then will be transferred somewhere closer to home where she will be for another month and a half. There is a solid plan in place but poor Ellie girl has a long road ahead of her and so does her family. They could really use our support. Sara and Mat have already had to miss work and she will obviously have to continue to miss work to be with Ellie. They will have many trips back and forth since they have 5 other children at home.
