THE STORY
This story is about characters from all walks of life at very different stages in their lives, struggling with a lack of guidance and things they cannot control. Together they develop emotional maturity and discover the true meaning of compassion.
Jade is a 15 year old Chinese girl with divorced, absentee parents. Jade has been taught by her mother to keep her head down, don’t get involved with other people’s issues, and don’t make trouble. She’s going to come across a broken down, ex-monk who’s going to tell her the world is so messed up, the only way to succeed in life is to cheat.
As she grows into her own person, Jade begins to form her own views of the world. It leads her to the conclusion that adults are not infallible, they’re not always right, and sometimes they give bad advice. That realization shakes Jade to the core. If she can’t rely on the adults in her life, who can she turn to? Jade eventually decides she can become her own hero.
Packaged in an exciting, action-adventure series filled with Chinese mythological creatures is a heartfelt story about a young girl finding compassion in a seemingly cruel world.
THE FUNDS
I've written a 22min pilot script and now I'm looking to fund the cost of storyboard artists, designers and voice actors to create an animatic pilot episode. At an extremely modest estimate, the budget comes out to around $12,000.
Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated. I want this show to be much needed therapy for children and parents alike. It is a way for us to explore and resolve the complicated feelings many people have for their family members, who often were just doing the best they could.
