The best and worst news of our lives, we were expecting a girl! I was ecstatic but there seemed to be something wrong. We could see the worry in the doctors face, as he stayed focus on the screen. He said, "I just want to make sure, but there seems to be a hole in the baby's heart." Our hearts sank all I could do was look at her father in disbelief waiting for the doctor to take back what he said. In most cases some of these holes close as the baby matures. That gave us some sense of hope, as we anxiously waited for the next appointment with a cardiologist. After extensive blood tests and ultrasounds, it was confirmed out little girl was diagnosed with a congenital heart disease. Tetralogy of fallot: a very rare condition caused by a combination of four heart defects that are present at birth. A child can go 3-6 months being closely monitored on this condition
. In that time she has battled what are known as blue spells, or tet spells. This causes her to turn blue and stop breathing in most cases. November 1st 2017 Elise will be undergoing open heart surgery at Phoenix Children's Hospital this will be the start of a very long journey and battle for Elise and her family.
