Elina is our sweet and brave six-year-old daughter. She has faced incredible challenges since birth, yet she continues to inspire us with her strength and resilience.

Elina was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis shortly after she was born. This life-limiting condition requires her to take 6 medications nine times a day and undergo daily physiotherapy. Even though the treatments are tough—medications with bitter tastes and therapies that leave her exhausted—she faces them courageously. There are moments when I see her tears as I bring her medications, but despite the pain, she always opens her mouth and takes them.

Elina also lives with autism, which brings its own set of challenges. She experiences significant sensory issues, which often lead to frustration, anxiety, and meltdowns that can last up to an hour. Communication is particularly difficult for her. While she knows many words, she struggles to use them meaningfully and relies heavily on body language to express herself.

We’ve worked hard to support Elina, including arranging therapy at home with a language therapist, but unfortunately, that support is no longer available. Recently, we found a clinic that can provide the therapy she desperately needs, but the costs are overwhelming for our family. The assessments alone cost £745 for occupational therapy and £350 for language therapy. Each therapy session costs £115 and £100, respectively. (Around £11000 per year).

As a family, we have done everything we can to give Elina the care she needs, but we are now asking for your help. These therapies are critical for her development and will give her the tools she needs to communicate, manage her sensory issues, and find joy in life beyond the hospital visits and medications that have defined her childhood.
