HELP ELECTROCUTED SLOTHS AND MONKEYS

Tax deductible

Baby sloths and monkeys desperately need your help! And their moms too!

In the year 2020, over 7,000 wild animals in Costa Rica lost their lives to horrific electrocutions on power lines; These numbers only cover the reported cases. Unreported and rural cases make the real number much higher!

Power Lines are installed at the canopy level, and tree-dwelling wildlife such as sloths and monkeys use them to move between the trees in fragmented forests. Unfortunately, no law requires the insulation of new power lines and transformers, so this will be an ongoing problem until significant changes to laws and regulations are made.

Every year, Rescate Wildlife Rescue Center rescues hundreds of wild animals with horrific injuries from electrocution. Identifying and treating these injuries is really challenging. Oftentimes, it is difficult to tell from the surface how much damage has been done, we must wait days or weeks for the extent of the injury to become apparent. But with the use of Infrared Thermography cameras (IRT) we can determine precisely where and how extensive the injury is. This allows us to initiate treatment earlier with a much better chance of recovery.

One of the best treatments is conducted using a Multiwave laser. The Multiwave laser is a noninvasive, painless laser treatment, which is the most effective way to reduce inflammation caused by electrocution. It can also be used for many other types of injuries, such as surgical wounds, muscle tears and strains, acute and chronic tendon injuries, and superficial skin lesions (wounds, ulcers, sores and more.

Please, will you help us give sloths, monkeys and other electrocution victims a second chance at life so we can return them back to the wild where they belong?
