Hey y’all! A special soul from our Nashville community needs our help!
Elaine Dustin and her husband, Howard, have been long-time vendors of the Nashville Farmer’s Market. Since 1996, they have owned and operated Belfair Farms- 60 acres of beautiful orchard grasses where their Katahdin Sheep free roam and are protected by their Akbash Dogs. However, 2020 came in like a lion with a tornado hitting downtown Nashville including the market itself in early March, followed by the Pandemic Shutdown a couple weeks later and even more recently the Second Avenue bombing... in addition to these challenges the Dustins have been fighting a very private ongoing battle of their own.
Elaine has been in excruciating debilitating pain for years. In 2020 alone she’s conquered knee surgery and shoulder surgery and is continuing to heal from those. Recently her back has been giving her issues. A surgery done 15 years ago has run it’s course and her back is needing major medical attention. The amount of pain she’s experiencing prevents her from being on her feet for more than 10 minutes at a time. As you can imagine, this makes it impossible for her to work along side her husband in the fields, cook family meals, or even climb their stairs at the end of the night without tears.
This brings me to the reason I’ve created this gofundme, a portion will cover the cost/installation of a Stair Chair Lift inside their home, but ultimately, Elaine is a great candidate for an innovative stem cell regenerative therapy that will cost the Dustins roughly $36,000 out of pocket. The medical advancement could give Elaine her life back-PAIN FREE and provide ground breaking research for future patients. It’s the only answer for her to be able to simply walk without pain.. something most of us do without thinking.
