<div>Dear Friends, Family, and Compassionate Souls,
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>During my recent trip to Burundi in August 2024, I had the honor of getting to know more Edith Ngendakuriyo, a resilient 36-year-old widow and devoted mother of three children - ages 12, 9, and 3.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I was deeply moved by her story and had the opportunity to meet her family. Edith's story is one of courage and perseverance in the face of extreme hardship.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Despite her efforts, she struggles to provide for her family on a wage of approximately $56 CAD per month.This is a typical wage for those working in roles such as domestic workers in Bujumbura, the capital of Burundi.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, most of her income goes toward rent, leaving very little for other necessities like food, education and essential medical care. Often, her children can eat only one meal per day, and she has had to rely on loans just to get by.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The house Edith currently rents is in very poor condition, especially when it rains. It is a constant reminder of the instability and discomfort her family endures. Despite these challenges, Edith remains hopeful and determined.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Recently, Edith inherited a small piece of land on the outskirts of Bujumbura from her father. With this land, Edith dreams of building a modest, safe home for her family. However, the cost of building even a simple house is far beyond her means.
</div>
<div>She needs approximately $5,650 CAD to complete the project. Unfortunately, there is no one or any form of support available in Burundi to meet Edith's needs.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Edith's situation is, sadly, a common one in Burundi, where access to financial resources is extremely limited for many people.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>After hearing her story and seeing her family's situation firsthand, my husband and I decided to contribute $500 to support her, but it’s not enough to make her dream of a reality.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>That’s why I’m reaching out to you now. Any contribution, no matter the size, will go a long way in helping Edith build a secure home for her children and give them a more stable future.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>To ensure that every dollar is used effectively, I will personally oversee the project from Canada, including hiring a trusted contractor and monitoring progress remotely.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I will provide regular updates on the project's advancement and ensure that the funds are used appropriately. Once the home is completed, I will be thrilled to share with you the impact of your generosity.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Edith has shown remarkable strength and integrity in her efforts to provide for her family under challenging circumstances.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Your support will not only help her achieve her dream of a safe home but will also have a lasting impact on the lives of her children.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Together, we can give Edith the stability she and her family deserve.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for your compassion and kindness.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With gratitude,
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Francine
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Chers amis, famille et âmes compatissantes,
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Avec gratitude,
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
