Help Eden Regain Her Smile -Dental

Tax deductible
Eden is a sweet and caring 21-year-old young woman who is in desperate need of extensive dental care.  After having suffered for many years without her two front teeth, she came to Dental Volunteers for Israel (DVI), a free dental clinic in Jerusalem, Israel that provides dental care and oral health education to underprivileged children and young adults.

Eden was born into an abusive family and suffered both sexual and physical abuse by her biological parents.  At the age of 13, Eden’s mother hit her so hard that she fell, knocking out her two front teeth.  Two years later she was fitted with temporary crowns, but due to her family situation, Eden was not able to replace her temporary crowns with a permanent solution to her missing teeth.

Over the years, her temporary crowns deteriorated and fell out, leaving her with a gap which can lead to shifting teeth and an unhealthy mouth.

Eden is not the typical DVI patient.  She will require extensive specialized dental treatment including surgery, root canal therapy, implants and crowns.

With all the turmoil that Eden was experiencing at home as a teenager, she was unable to focus on school and dropped out when she was in the 10th grade.  She would like to finish her high school education, but hesitates to leave her house because she is embarrassed about her smile.  For now, she is taking care of her wheelchair-bound step-father who is unable to work.  They are surviving on his disability payments and trying to stay positive through it all.

Please help Eden regain her smile by making your donation today.

Eden’s dream is to one day volunteer and ultimately work for Magen David Adom, Israel's national emergency medical, disaster, ambulance and blood bank service. Together we can get her on her way, starting with a healthy smile.

Your donation to this campaign will go to the American Friends of DVI, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which supports the work of DVI through volunteer recruitment and fundraising efforts in the United States. The mission of the American Friends of DVI is to promote oral health, prevent suffering, provide access to care among at-risk populations and to promote international volunteerism and cross-cultural understanding.

Your full donation amount will be given as a grant to DVI where Eden will receive her dental treatment.  Your donation is tax-deductible as allowed by law.

Dr. Linda Schaller, one of the volunteer dentists who treated Eden in June 2017 remarked, “Eden’s whole mouth is a mess. She requires extensive care and really needs implants to replace her missing front teeth. It is remarkable what a caring and lovely young woman she is!”

Your donation will help sweet Eden smile confidently and improve her health and her life!
