Ed served as a pastor before authoring several Christian books on the person and work of Jesus Christ. He also serves alongside Dr. Daniel B. Wallace at The Center for the Study of New Testament Manuscripts (CSNTM.)

<div>Ed and Shelley are more than mere coworkers to us. They are dear friends enduring the most tragic event parents can face: the sudden death of their 17-year-old daughter, Emily.

<div>On Monday, Nov 29, Emily suffered a sudden cardiac event from which she never recovered. She was discovered unresponsive by coworkers, rushed to a nearby hospital, flown by helicopter to a pediatric cardiac hospital, where she spent the night in ICU but never regained consciousness. As of Wednesday, Dec 1, she had no brain activity.

<div>Ed and Shelley, having devoted their lives to the service of others in the name of Jesus Christ, are not wealthy. The cost of Emily's emergency care and her final arrangements are going to be <em>very</em> substantial, and keenly felt for people unprepared to bury their teenage daughter.
