Dukie Needs Help to Live

Who I am is not as important as the value of Dukie is to me.  I raised an incredible son as a Single Mum, worked hard all my life and have experienced overwhelming pain of loss, health, and sacrifice. But even though the things I dream of are not in my hands yet, I won't stop trying.

So what is this about? Im going out of character and asking you for help. Dukie is 3 pounds 3.5 onces after she eats. Yes Dukie is a girl. She was originally named Dutchess 7 years ago but that quickly changed when she became part of the family. The moment she met her 54 pound fur brother Beau, she reared up on her back legs a threw a nice right cross punch to his nose with my son laughing and proclaimed her to be the World's Smallest Boxer. "She put up her Dukes"! She was never thought of as a toy or Dutchess again!! Tomboy all the way. So Dutchess became Dukie.

This little girl has championed at life. Being the runt of the litter, a couple boughts of  Hypoglycemic Comas, 2 Cornial Ulsers and came back from Rainbow Bridge 4 years ago. She suffered Cardiac Arrest and was revived after 30 minutes of C.P.R. proving again her mighty personality and love of life, truly outweighs her size. I have been grateful for her Pet Insurance to assist with the costs to save her.

But Dukie now faces a new life threatening challenge and so do I. She has an Abcess in her face that needs immediate treatment as the infection progresses it is threatening her organs and her life. This requires surgery near her mouth and even though Dukie has Pet Insurance, they have denied to cover the costs of surgery and treatment due to the company's Exclusion Act and decided this surgery is Dental and they don't cover teeth cleaning. However this abscess is in the facial bone preventing her from eating due to the swelling and pain.

This is day 2 Dukie has not eaten and my feelings of inadequacy grow. I lost my job due to Covid and struggling to keep my little family going. It's overwhelming for many and I know I'm not alone in this year of struggle.

I have upcoming heart surgery in December and my fight  will a Progressive Neurological Disorder is one I will never stop.  But my fear and question is, will Dukie be home waiting for me after my surgery next month? She still has many years ahead of her but only with your help to be Dukie's Hero. Should enough be raised for her treatments and surgery, all remaining funds will given to another Fur Family Member somewhere in need of Hope.

Dukie is not only my Best Friend, Therapy Dog, she is a huge little family member

To all of you considering being Dukie's Hero Of Hope Family Member, we thank you with all of our heart and the love of the Biggest Little Doggie with an even Bigger Heart.
