Duke is more than just our family dog—he’s a loving, adventurous companion who has been with us through so many special moments. He’s a Labrador retriever, border collie, and German shepherd mix, just under two years old, and from the day I brought him home in a Superman cape to surprise my boys, he’s brought so much joy and comfort to our lives. Duke is shy at first, but once he gets to know you, he’s all about love and affection. He’s always there when someone in the family is having a rough day, offering comfort in his quiet, gentle way.

Recently, Duke was hit by a truck, suffering a dislocated hip and a broken femur. The accident has left him unable to move on his own, and he now relies on us for everything—from hand feeding to helping him go to the bathroom. It’s heartbreaking to see him in pain and unable to enjoy the adventures he loves. We’ve managed to cover some of his initial vet care, but the surgery he needs to recover fully is far beyond what we can afford right now. The cost is required up front, and without it, Duke’s chances for a pain-free, active life are at risk.
