Duffy has been my mom’s loyal companion for the past nine years, ever since she rescued him during a difficult time in her life. After losing her previous dog, my mom was heartbroken, but Duffy brought comfort and joy back into her world. He’s been by her side ever since, offering constant companionship and support, especially as she navigates retirement and life with a disability.

This past week, Duffy’s health took a sudden turn. He was rushed to the emergency vet on Sunday with severe vomiting and pain. After being sent home with medication, his condition worsened overnight. By Monday morning, he was unable to stand, running a fever, and in obvious distress. He was admitted to the veterinary hospital for a battery of tests, but as of now, there’s still no clear diagnosis. The uncertainty and worry have been overwhelming for my mom.

The medical bills are already mounting, and my mom, living on a fixed income, is struggling to keep up. Any support from the community would mean the world to both my mom and Duffy. It would relieve the financial stress and ensure Duffy can get the treatment he needs, allowing my mom to focus on his recovery instead of worrying about how to pay for it.
