Help DREN beat Neuroblastoma!!

Dren is a 4-and-a-half-year-old little boy who like most kids his age loves playing with his friends.

Around December of 2018, Dren started complaining of leg pain. Within the next couple of days, he was laid out on the couch uninterested in playing with his friends and began not being interested in food. His parents took him to his pediatrician a couple days later to get his leg checked out.

After several tests, blood work, blood transfusions, various X-rays, ultra sounds, etc. Dren was hospitalized on December 15, 2018 in Bar, Montenegro.  They transferred Dren to a different hospital in Podgorica, Montenegro, but doctors were unable to diagnose him. On December 19, 2018 he was sent by the doctors of the Podgorica hospital to Belgrade, Serbia where his family got the worst news ever - DREN HAS CANCER!

Dren was diagnosed with Stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma.  Within the next couple of days, Dren started his first round of chemotherapy.  He continued receiving chemotherapy and reached a total of 7 rounds before doctors suggested that Dren was ready for surgery to remove his tumor. Doctors knew his surgery was a high risk and very complicated, therefore the doctors in Belgrade decided to send him to St. Jude, Memphis. His surgery was a success.  However, Dren needs a lot more done in order to fully recover.  He needs a couple of stem cell transplants, radiation and immunotherapy to follow.

A little bit about Dren’s family -

Ardian and Rudina are Dren’s parents.  Dren has a little sister, Hera, who is 10 months old. Unfortunately, Hera had to stay in Ulcinj, Montenegro, where they reside with her grandparents. Dren doesn’t like the fact his little sister isn’t around to play with him. They are a very close and loving family which they always do everything together.  Ardian and Rudina’s children are their world. Rudina is a stay at home mom.  Ardian worked at a local school cafeteria which consequently lost his job recently because he wanted to be with Dren for his chemotherapy treatments in Belgrade.

Dren is currently here in New York receiving chemotherapy, but the Insurance they provided him with WILL NOT cover all of the expenses. His parents need help with money to pay for their living expenses and any medication that Dren needs that won’t be covered by the Insurance.

This has affected and devastated EVERYONE in their family.  No donation is too small.  If you cannot donate, they kindly ask for your prayers, and lots of them.

This is going to be a very long journey for them and especially Dren.

Thank you for taking the time to read their story and have a blessed day.
