<div>Once again, the British GDC (General Dental Council) is forcing Dr. Mew to defend his license to practice and his treatment methods. The GDC has been trying to silence Dr. Mew for five years and counting. Although the GDC is a British organization, their actions against John and Mike Mew have had a chilling effect for all doctors who are willing to question the status quo.

<div>The philosophy of airway orthodontics and growth guidance is on trial. The GDC remains entrenched in the debunked (at least by real scientists) mantra that crooked teeth are genetic, thus any treatment aimed at improving a patient's craniofacial structure through expansion and lifestyle changes, like Orthotropics, is inappropriate.

<div>So ARE crooked teeth and under-developed jaws genetic? For paleo-anthropologists, this is an easy question:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>“There’s not been enough time for evolution over the span of only several generations to have made our jaws shrink.” - Prof. Paul Ehrlich, Stanford University
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>"For millions of years, humans had no problem erupting their wisdom teeth, but innovations in food preparation techniques have messed up the age-old system in which genes and mechanical loads from chewing interact to enable teeth and jaws to grow together properly." - Prof. Daniel Lieberman, Harvard University
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>"Our teeth [...] evolved over hundreds of millions of years to be incredibly strong and to align precisely for efficient chewing." - Dr. Peter Unger, Univ. of Arkansas
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>"I've never seen a hunter-gatherer with crooked teeth." - Prof. Richard Klein, Stanford University
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The fallacy that crooked teeth are genetic seems to only be held by the dental community. Debate, dissent, and research have been silenced. We need this outdated thinking to change so that our next generation has a chance to develop without compressed airways, TMJ pain and retruded jaws. We believe in simple, free public health measures like nasal breathing, good posture, and chewing hard food. We believe in expansion not extraction. Fighting for the truth is not easy and it is not free. This fight has cost John and Mike Mew dearly. If you have benefited from their advice, please donate today. All donations will be used to defray Dr. Mew's legal costs.
