Hello! My name is Dr. Carmen Barfield. I am the Site Principal for a Summer Learning Academy in the local school district. I always like to treat my teachers, teacher assistants, cafeteria staff, custodial staff, and students in the summer because summertime can be extra tough. Many times, staff will work in the summer to help supplement their income to make home renovations, purchase back-to-school items for their kids, pay off debt, make major purchases that they cannot afford otherwise, or just to create an emergency savings. Our building is open to students for enrichment and fun activities, in addition to providing a safe space for the summer while parents are at work.

I want to thank my staff for their hard work this summer and continue to be a space of fun for students in the midst of learning. To continue this positive climate and culture, I would like to host an end-of-the-summer picnic and give out staff gifts! I would like to offer my staff and students the following and I need your help!

1. Luncheon - The luncheon will be catered by a local vendor who will grill on site! Hamburgers, hot dogs, smoked sausages, baked beans, chips, soda, water, dessert, and coleslaw.

2. $15.00 Kroger Gift Cards for all staff - These gift cards will help with purchasing gas, taking a little discount off their groceries for the summer, or buying their favorite snack.

3. Bouncer rentals and face painting for our students during the picnic.

4. A DJ to play the latest jams and to keep the picnic going!

The picnic date is Thursday, June 26, 2025; 10:30a.m.-1:30p.m.

I have a staff of 41 and 160 students, so every little bit helps to reach my goal. There are no funds designated in the summer, so any extra activities are funded through the generous donations of people like you! Please consider supporting our end-of-summer site picnic!
