Help Dougie Brookes receive life-saving surgery

Hi everyone, we are Nigel and Rachael, eldest of Douglas “Dougie” Brookes’ 7 grandkids and we are starting this GoFundMe to help him fight metastatic prostate cancer. “Metastatic” basically means the cancer is advanced and spreading. Most often this cancer spreads to the bones, lymph nodes, liver or lungs. Fortunately, in our grandfathers case it has not spread to any of these areas yet so there is still time to drastically reduce it’s spread to where he needn’t worry about it and go on to live to 100 as he says he can.

Dougie has overcome kidney cancer in the past, losing a kidney to cancer years ago; he thought he had overcome prostate cancer with surgery to remove the prostate in 2012 but sadly the surgery was performed too late.  

Putting off further medical treatment is no longer an option. Every donation will help Dougie meet the expenses of the medical /surgical treatment he needs to fight back the spread of metastatic prostate cancer. 

Our Grandad, “Dougie Brookes” to most of you, is a humble and unassuming man who has been involved in all facets of the Marine trade, personally overseeing the design and construction of over 2 dozen magnificent, hand crafted yachts, mostly large Catamarans. We want to give him the chance to continue building these beautiful boats.
