Help Dorothy Recover from Burn

Hi Everyone, on 11/12/17 Mom ( Dorothy Burkett) was cooking and her robe caught fire. She has third degree burns over her shoulder, upper arm, under arm, back and side. She had 5 hours of surgery. She has massive skin grafts that had to be taken from her legs. She is 77 years old. She handled the surgery well and she is strong. But we will be in the Burn Unit at UNC Chapel Hill for a very long time in recovery.
I have had a number of people ask what they could do to help and it was suggested by friends that I set up this page. I will be traveling back and forth between Greenville and Chapel Hill and my performance locations because I have to be able to keep our household going through this tough time while managing Mom’s care. I am Mom’s only care giver in NC. All of the travel and cost of Mom’s various ambulance rides and my travel between Greenville and Chapel Hill will be and are very expensive. Not to mention medical cost that maybe yet unforeseen. Since people have been asking how they can help I was wondering if you would consider donating to this fund, we would greatly appreciate it.
This will be a very hard recovery for Mom but she is up for it. She is one of the strongest and toughest ladies I have ever meet. Those of you who know Mom well know that she has had to learn to walk twice after a horrible car accident in the 70’s and recently relearned to use her arm after a shoulder replacement just six weeks ago. Sadly the shoulder that was burned was the one that she just had replaced. Luckily the muscles and shoulder joint are sound. She is a incredibly strong and amazing woman.
