<div>My sister, Donna Belgram, was just diagnosed with Acute Myelomonocytic Leukemia on her trip through the Baltic states and is in a hospital in Slovenia. She is too sick to currently fly back to the United States for treatment or even take a 5 hour train ride to Munich for better medical facilities. In Slovenia her medical treatment and hospital costs are cash only, as her US insurance plan does not cover any treatment outside of the US.

<div>The costs to treat Donna in Slovenia and to fly her home where she can get medical treatment in Arizona are staggering.

<div>This is a tough post to write. As many of you know, we embarked on my retirement dream trip 9/1. My dream trip has turned into a nightmare and my family needs lots of prayers. The first week of the trip my gums started swelling. I went to the ship dr and he said I had a viral infection but he still gave me antibiotics. After a week of that I still wasn’t feeling great. I decided to go to the ER in Lake Bled. They then sent me to a hospital for further testing. Much to our shock, I have been diagnosed with Acute Myelomonocytic Leukemia. This does not allow me to fly home commercially. I have been told I will most likely die. We are currently looking at a private flight with medical personnel onboard. If I do not do that by Saturday, then I will be transferred to a hospital in Munich, Germany to start chemotherapy. I will then have to be there for 6 weeks to 6 months depending if I go into remission. If I don’t start the chemotherapy, I was told today, I have 3 months to live. This goes far beyond our travel insurance.

<div>First and foremost, I am asking you for prayers. I have a long road ahead of me. My first request is that I am able to fly home and do my treatment at home.
