This is Kimber our 2.5 year old pup. We’ve been in and out of vets office and ER visits with her since September as we couldn’t get an answer as to what’s going on with her. Unfortunately our vet can only do so much in their office.

From her protein levels being extremely low and high, to a hard mass forming on her right lower rib cage, to pockets full of fluid bursting out of no where. We’ve gotten X-rays, blood work, and biopsies done to rule out cancer. That’s the good part, it’s not cancer. But our vets still don’t know what it could be as they’ve never seen something like this before. So they referred us to a dermatologist. We found one down at U of I in Urbana, IL. We got called 3 months early for a sooner appointment and consultation. We went down and we talked about her history as a new hard mass started to form on her left lower rib cage before that appointment we just went to.

They suggested a procedure to narrow it down to two possibilities as far as what’s going on. Unfortunately they can’t prescribe medication for either potential cause until they know for sure because if it’s not the correct one it could make Kimber decline fast, as it would counteract with the other possibility if that’s the case. We’ve spent a very good amount of time and money from all of these visits, procedures, testing and medications to keep a few things under control. Right now we’re looking at the most recent bill of $1,500 just for the cost of the procedure, and that doesn’t include medications she’ll have to be on once they determine what the cause all of this is and then the aftercare and follow ups to come.

We’re hoping we can raise something to at least help us out during this rough time as we have used up our savings and then some to make sure she’s comfortable and getting the treatment she can as we get ready for this appointment on April 25th. We’re doing everything we can to keep Colty’s sister/best friend healthy and going. She’s the sweetest with him and he adores her, and she’s also our very first dog we got together to start our little family.
