Help Don & Liz rebuild after Harvey

Donation protected
Last Friday night Don and Liz thought they were safe, they had survived Hurricane Harvey. The rain had stopped and the sun was starting to shine.  They had about 5 feet of standing water in the yard but the house was still dry.... but then the unexpected happened, the city had to release an enormous amount of water from the levy as it was in jeopardy of bursting and the water at Don and Liz's rose fast, 2 feet within a few hours. They did what they could to put all their most prized possesions up but with little time, they were forced to leave their home and be rescued by the Cajun Navy. Two days later the water receeded enough to return to their home. The devastation was unimaginable. Close to 4 feet of water had rushed into their beloved, lovingly remodeled home.  It was difficult to understand the how and why this happened and their hearts and spirits broke.  Within hours, family and friends started showing up to help.  They began to rally around Don and Liz and pretty soon gave them the much needed reassurance that this will be okay!  Don and Liz felt a renewed determination to rebuild thanks to all that support!  It will never be the same and so many treasured items are gone forever - but they are only "things".  Don, Liz and Jadon are all safe.  They are healthy, they are together, they have family and friends who love them dearly!  The only thing they don't have is a home.  Right now their biggest need is for a safe, dry, clean place to live while they rebuild. They want to purchase a small travel trailer to put on their property so they can stay near Don's work, Jadon's school and the community they love while they put their home back together. They found a trailer near by for $10,500.  Some of you know me, but many do not, I am Donald's sister Beverly.  I live in Seattle.  It breaks my heart that I cannot be there in the dirt and mud helping them clean up but like you I want to do SOMETHING! My husband Mark left as soon as the water receeded and is still there working side by side with Don and Liz.  Mark is lucky to be able to drop everything to physically help but not everyone can do that. I've had several people ask me what they can do to help and it occured to me!  LET'S HELP THEM BUY THIS TRAILER!  With your support, they can stay in their neighborhood, rebuild their beautiful home and enjoy some peace knowing they have all that really matters in life, friends, family and each other.   Bless you all for being an important and unforgettable part of this healing process for them.  This will be a long road, but they are fighters and will get through this!  Down the road they will also need friends to help with all that goes in to rebuilding their home.  We don't know exactly what that will be right now, but please reach out to them in a few days when things start to settle down and let them know how much you love them and if there's any special skill you have to offer if/when they get to that part of this process.  Don and Liz are the ones who are ALWAYS there for anyone in need - my guess is that if you are reading this, they have helped or touched your life in some meaningful way, show them you love them and you are grateful for the love they have shown you.  Thank you!
