HELP DOMINIC CONQUER LEUKEMIA
On 7 December my brother Dominik was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). He is currently fighting this disease, but we need your help.
His story so far: Once upon a time Dominik went on a trip to Russia where he met the love of his life Nadia. They lived for a short period of time in Belgium, but moved back to Kemerovo (Siberia) Nadia was homesick and Dominik followed his wife to her home town. Here my brother lived happily with his wife and children and started a ‘frituur’ and Belgian beer house.
Until disaster struck. At the moment he is hospitalized in Kemerovo where he is undergoing very intense chemo therapy, but he is unable to get the necessary treatment (bone marrow transplant) in this hospital. Moving him to another hospital in Russia isn’t a solution either, because chances are very small to nothing to find a good donor match in Russia. (Stem cells West-Europe differt from stem cells East-Europe) So he has no other options to come back to Belgium. Unfortunately, ill-luck never comes alone, and due to the severity of illness (and the lack of immunity due to the chemo) he will need a private transport back to Belgium. Dominik has no health care insurance in Belgium and Russian health care does not cover docter bills from Belgium.
As his sister I have a 25% chance of being a matching donor, just like our younger brother Michael. Now I’m desperately calling for help.
The collected funds will be used to help with transport and medical bills, helping his wife and children get in Europe as well and anything else they may need during this difficult time.

Op 7 december werd mijn broer Dominik gediagnosticeerd met acute myeloide leukemie (AML). Op dit moment vecht hij tegen deze ziekte, maar we hebben hulp nodig.
Zijn verhaal tot nu: Lang geleden ging Dominik op reis naar Rusland waar hij de liefde van zijn leven tegenkwam, Nadia. Ze leefden eerst samen in Belgie, maar Nadia kreeg heimwee, Dominik volgde zijn vrouw naar haar geboortestad Kemerovo. Mijn broer leefde gelukkig met zijn vrouw en kinderen en startte een frituur en Belgische bier cafe.
Tot het moment van deze ramp. Nu is hij gehospitaliseerd in Kemerovo waar hij intense chemo ondergaat. In dit ziekenhuis bestaat er geen mogelijkheid tot stamceldonatie. Hem verplaatsen naar een ander Russisch ziekenhuis is geen oplossing omdat West-Europese en Oost-Europese stamcellen verschillen waardoor de kans op een match quasi onbestaande zal zijn. Hij heeft geen andere optie dan terug te keren naar Belgie. Helaas komt ongeluk niet alleen en omdat zijn immuunsysteem zo verzwakt is, heeft hij een prive-vlucht nodig naar Belgie. Hij is niet meer aangesloten bij een ziekenfonds en de Russische ziekenkas komt niet tussen bij vervoer en dokterskosten in het buitenland.
Ik als zus heb 25% kans om een beenmergmatch te zijn met mijn broer, net zoals onze jongere broer Michaël. We zijn dringend op zoek naar hulp.
Het verzamelde geld zal worden gebruikt voor de vlucht en de ziekenhuisfacturen, het overkomen van zijn vrouw en kind en alle hulp die ze nodig hebben in deze moeilijke periode.
