Help Dionne & DW rebuild their livelihoods
My name is Dionne Wilks and my son is Delaney Wilks. I’ve been informed that a few people would like to donate to help me and my son in our tine of need. This account has been set up for myself and my son and the persons wanting to help us.
I am a single mother who works very hard to make sure my son is ok! Starting about 4 weeks ago a bat got into my home.
I thought nothing of it and just let it out bc sometimes I open my windows for fresh air and I live in a 2 story town home!
About a week later as I entered my home me and my SONshine was surprised by 3 bats flying in our house!

Of course we was scared but our neighbors helped me out to get them things out my house!(this was the first night I could not sleep) I stayed up watching my son all night bc I was scared to death to close my eyes ( and I shouldn’t have to leave my house to convience the leasing office)
Ok so I contact my leasing office to inform them of my issue the lady then informs me my head agent is out sick understable but whatever! (This now continues for days)
I took it upon myself to call an exterminator to see what I could do to fix this problem (mind you I’ve only been residing here 60 days)
I had to pay for an consultation out of my OWN pocket but bc my baby comes first I paid the fee!
The man gives me a paper stating I’m living in a bat nest and he goes in the wall (trough the attic space in my sons room) to show me all the Guano and bats chilling(pictures below). He told me to tape up my attic, my vents, duct work and door to my closet where the air system is. And of course I did! But now my vents are closed and it’s cold and I can’t plug in the space heaters bc in January when I tried to do so it burned out the socket! Long story short I’m now 10 bats in and haven’t really slept in like 3 weeks. I’ve did EVERYTHING THEY TOLD ME TO DO AND STILL NO RELIEF! I’ve had to buy rooms go to my moms and stay with my friend, man this is crazy!
This is one of the most embarrassing and emotional things I have been through!
I’ve had to pack my whole house up bc
they are live bats flying around me and
my baby in the night! I have now woke up in about 7 different occasions where this is happening! Needless to say me my son my friend and my cousin and my neighbor now has to get series of rabies shots
that cost about a grand per person if not more (and I don’t have any insurance at
the time) bc the administration of rabies shots are only given at the hospital ER or the urgent care! I have not slept in like 3 weeks I’m up all night and sleep all day! I missing my money bc I can not wake up. I’ve lost weight and all bc I’m scare to open drawers or cabinets in my house!
The bats have been found in my sink my dish rack under my cabinet my baby toy box and just flying around my house I’ve threw all his toys and art supplies away bc Dhec has informed me that I have had over exposure to bats. I gotta get back to work bc at this points my coins are low
and I can’t afford to keep getting hotels
out of my own pocket bc I haven’t been to work. I just don’t know what to do I’ve complained on numerous occasions, asked, called (they won’t give me a corporate contact), went up there, got the exterminator my self and tapped up my house! I haven’t abandoned the property bc I’m swear I’m trying to build my credit to move forward in life and by law of sc I can not just abandon a place without the proper protocol to do so! (Whatever that is for bats) And to be honest I just don’t want these people to do this to anyone else bc check this as I’m moving stuff out I find a “bat repellent box” which I didn’t buy so the box was there before I moved in and I just didn’t see it bc I still had boxes to unpack I just moved still trying to get settled! And I was told by other residents the previous tenant had bats and they moved me and my boy in there anyway!
I’m now low on funds and a lot of my things have to be throwed away bc
there’s noway I can or willingly co habitat with the bats!
Im putting my pride away and asking if there’s anything you can donate to help me and My SONshine rebuild everything we’ve lost in this short time and to help cover our hotel expenses for a safe sound night, our moving expenses, and to help replace his toys and art supplies!
