Mom has been diagnosed with Stage 2 Invasive Ductal breast cancer in her left breast. With this cancer, the oncologist gives a grade rating determined on how aggresive the cancer is. One, is used for the least aggressive. Two, is used for moderately aggresive and three is used for more aggresive breast cancer. Unfortunately the devil seeks to destroy and mom has the most agressive form. He will stop at nothing to knock as off our feet.
On April 23, mom will have a Mastectomy to remove all of her cancer and breast tissue with sentinel lymph node biopsy. This entails removing the breast tissue as well as some skin and the nipple.
Following surgery she will stay in the hospital for two nights and the recovery time is four weeks. During this time she will have 1-2 drains that will be left in for approximently 5-10 days.
We have set a goal for 5.000 dollars. The surgery requires 3000 dollars initially for the deductible alone. The recovery time is four to five weeks and she will not be able to work and there is no absent from work pay available. In most of employers there is a short term disability offered with 80% of your pay, however with her current employer this is not an option.
